What Is Therapy, Really? Debunking the Myths for Faith-Based Communities
By ACME Wellness For many in faith-based or culturally-rooted communities, the idea of going to therapy can feel strange—maybe even
Healing Minds. Strengthening Souls. Building Community.
At ACME Wellness, we facilitate accessibility to faith-based mental health services that combine professional psychotherapy with spiritual care and community support.
Bridging Psychology and Faith for Holistic Healing
The name ACME in the ACME Wellness Program is deeply meaningful and reflects the program’s mission under Anba Abraam Charity (AAC). Derived from the Greek word akmē (ἀκμή), meaning “the highest point” or “peak of something,” the word symbolizes the program’s commitment to helping individuals and communities reach their highest potential in mental well-being and education. By removing barriers such as cost, stigma, and lack of access through four pillars—Support Funds, Aid Directly, Trusted Impact, and Open Minds—the ACME Wellness Program strives to elevate people to a place of hope, dignity, and healing.
ACME Wellness exists to support mental health and well-being in faith-based communities by removing barriers to care through financial assistance, education, and community partnerships.
We partner with therapy organizations like Cornerstone Family Counselling Services to subsidize or cover the cost of one-on-one and group therapy sessions led by licensed mental health professionals who understand the importance of integrating faith and emotional health. Please note that ACME is not a therapy provider
Through trusted partnerships—such as with Cornerstone Family Counselling Services—we help make therapy and educational resources more accessible. ACME offers workshops and seminars led by licensed professionals to build tools for managing stress, trauma, and relationship challenges. Our focus is on supporting emotional wellbeing grounded in spiritual resilience.
